Easily replace the window switch on the door of your Alfa Romeo 147 or GT with our quick and simple tutorial.

Note

Difficulty: Difficult

Duration: Less than 40 minutes

Diagnostic

  • The window is unresponsive or gets stuck: If the window of your Alfa Romeo does not respond when you press the window switch, or if it gets stuck in the up or down position, this could indicate a faulty window switch. Worn internal contacts or a damaged circuit can prevent the electrical signal from reaching the motor, thereby blocking the operation of the window.

  • The switch is stiff or does not return to its initial position: If the window switch is hard to press or does not properly return to its original position after being released, this could be due to a stuck or worn internal mechanism. A switch that no longer operates smoothly can cause usability issues and may eventually damage the system over time.

Prerequisites

  • Two RepairCoffee window switches
  • A flathead screwdriver

Repairing the Window Switch for Alfa Romeo 147 or GT Doors

Step 1: Safety

Start by turning off your car’s engine. Ensure the ignition key is removed before beginning.

Step 2: Remove the Door Control Panel

Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry and remove the door control panel. Be careful not to damage the door panel or the fastening clips.

Step 3: Disconnect the Electrical Connectors

Once the control panel is removed, disconnect the electrical connectors from the window switch. You may need to press a tab to unplug the connectors.

Step 4: Separate the Two Faces

Now you need to separate the front face of the control panel from the back face. To do this, carefully remove the clips holding the two parts together. Don’t hesitate to use a flathead screwdriver for this.

Attention

Screws may fall out while doing this, so be careful not to lose them.

Step 5: Remove the Screws

Remove the small screws present, using a flathead screwdriver if they are difficult to remove.

Step 6: Unclip the Remaining Parts

Once all screws are removed, you should be able to unclip the front panel from the back part. A flathead screwdriver may be needed for this. However, if the panel does not unclip, ensure there are no remaining screws.

Attention

Be careful not to lose the various mechanisms when opening the panel.

Step 7: Remove the Damaged Window Switch

You should now be able to remove the damaged window switch. Ensure that no pieces of it remain inside when doing so.

Step 8: Install the RepairCoffee Window Switch

Install the RepairCoffee window switch. You can reinstall the control panel by following these steps:

  • Reclip the front panel with the back part. Ensure all the clips are correctly secured.

  • Reinsert the screws into their positions.

  • Reclip the last part of the control panel with the rest. Again, ensure all the clips are correctly secured.

  • Reconnect the connectors.

  • Reclip the control panel back into the door.

Compatibility

The replacement window switch is compatible with the following Alfa Romeo models:

  • Alfa Romeo 147
  • Alfa Romeo GT
